November 2009 - East Sussex

The Countryman course

The skills we employ for Bushcraft in the UK are generally associated with or derived from the skills employed by country folk to procure food, fire, water and shelter. To have a knowledge or understanding of these skills can only be an asset to anybody venturing out into the countryside.
This course is not a full on Bushcraft course but more of a weekend of county pursuits whilst living in the relative luxury of a wood-stove heated tipi and eating in comfortable heated hut around a table each mealtime. Meals will be based on locally procured game and the game preparation will be part of the course.
Other skills we will cover in this course include Ferreting and netting rabbits, Trapping and snaring, Safe rifle shooting (.22 rimfire), Lamping for game, Shotgun safety and shooting, Archery and a couple of hours coaching in flycasting.
This course will start earlier (1300) on The Friday than our normal weekends and is based in East Sussex woodland.
